ITALY GOURMET TOUR – Italy’s top regional specialties A moveable feast for the taste buds & a whirlwind romance with history

0

Duration: 4 hours

****************

Enjoy an early morning walk, the morning sun, and the morning breeze…  On our 4-hour walking food tour through the “caruggi” – the characteristic narrow streets of the Medieval village – you’ll get to taste what makes Ligurian cuisine so special and unique and you’ll visit the fruit and vegetable market, an outburst of colours and flavours, with stalls overflowing with every kind of food … This is not the larger organized food distribution: this is Mediterranean fantasy!

Take a stroll along the ancient route linking the town centre to the old town. Flavours become warm, fragrant, all encompassing. It is time for savoury local pastries and the true Italian espresso.

After a walk along the narrow alleyways of the Medieval village, you’ll discover Italy through its top regional specialties: Pesto sauce, focaccia, Parmigiano Reggiano – the King amongs cheeses, prosciutto di Parma ham and the true Mozzarella di Bufala. The family-run cheese shop you’ll visit is a sort of Paradise for foodies!

Hunger is but a distant memory while savouring Ligurian street food: focaccia, sardenaira – a sort of local pizza slice, torta di verdura, and focaccia with cheese. Our expert will explain you the secrets of the ancient Ligurian recipes that our “nonnas” (grandmothers) wrote on the family cookbooks, and you’ll taste the healthy street food cooked by local people.

During the gourmet tour you’ll also discover the local “green gold”, the extra-virgin olive oil DOP Riviera Ligure – Riviera dei Fiori (i.e. PDO, protected designation of origin), and the Taggiasca olive, the Queen among olives.

What’s better than a stop at a local, well-supplied winery? Here you’ll taste 2 DOC local wines: Rossese di Dolceacqua – a ruby red wine with an intense aroma, produced in the west part of Liguria and Pigato – Pigato is a white Italian wine grape planted primarily in Liguria. Two unique and memorable wines for travelers who wish to experience the authenticity of our territory.

The worthy conclusion to this gourmet stroll is the authentic Italian gelato (ice cream) made every morning by a local family with fresh ingredients, an unforgettable experience for foodies.
