From the Belle Epoque to the early post-war period: an historical, architectural and botanical path. It will be lovely to relate to the lives of the very rich between the XIX and XX centuries and feel strong emotions inside those wonderful gardens.
We meet in Sanremo, the city of flowers, where we walk along Corso Imperatrice, dotted with palm trees. We walk and we reach Villa Nobel, residence of the famous Swedish scientist Alfred Nobel. The imposing eclectic style building is still partially furnished with period furniture. Nowadays the villa exhibits Nobel’s memorabilia such as the inventor’s bedroom and a reconstruction of his study.
Then we reach the next stage, the Ormond Garden, built on various levels. Here you can admire native and exotic plants, which thrive in an oasis of peace in the modern heart of the city. Visiting Villa Ormond is like going around the botanical world in an hour. At the end of the tour we will visit Floriseum – the Museum of Flowers of Sanremo, where your knowledgeable guide will explain you the development of floriculture, and you will understand why this corner of the Liguria region is called “Flowers Riviera”.
